Raffaella holds a Ph.D in Genetic Sciences, based on work carried out at the University of Pavia, Italy, and at the Emory University School of Medicine, Atlanta USA, on the sporulation genetics of the microorganism Bacillus subtilis.
Postdoctoral studies followed at the Biozentrum Basel, Switzerland, on the mechanisms and genetic regulation of translation in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
She joined Cerbios-Pharma SA as research scientist in 1993 and was promoted as Director of the Biological R&D Division in 1999. Under her direction the R&D team, besides providing support to current products, was able to fully develop biotech processes based on CHO, to successfully carry out technology transfer of microbial production processes and to develop new microencapsulated formulations.
Raffaella is author of patents and peer-reviewed publications in the field of microbiology and cell biology
